Sunday was a beautiful day so we took the opportunity to enjoy it in Darrell & Pam's backyard. The kids had fun with the water sprinkler, digging for treasure in the sandbox, driving the jeep and playing baseball. So thanks for a great day.
Today was back to the clinic. Blood work confirmed what we thought the drugs were doing and that is wiping out his white blood cells and his platelets. WBC was 0.46 and platelets were 39. The hematologist couldn't find a single neutrophil in the WBC but by machine the report showed Nathan 0.09 Neutrophils. Because the platelets were so low and Nathan is having leg needles this week, he received a platelet transfusion. The leg needles did not go well today. He was very tense and screamed the whole time. It seemed to really hurt today. Because of the low platelets he has bruises were the needles were. Nathan fell asleep in the van on the way home so had almost an hour nap. The nap perked him up as we went to walk Carter to a neighbours where the kids had congregated to play games. At supper he decided the meat was too smelly so went up stairs to put on his PJ's only to yell down that there was an emergency. He was taking off his band aids and when he pulled the one off of his port he started bleeding. That is the first time that has ever happened.
Carter came with us to the clinic today. It was a longer stay than I had anticipated so he got a little bored at times but he liked the fact he could come with us. He is really starting to enjoy the new neighbourhood since he is making friends with the neighbour kids. Tonight after supper he headed out to see who was out playing. That was nice to see.
Tomorrow will be a quiet day for the kids as I am at work so they will be home with my mom. Wednesday Arron will be home so we are hoping the weather is nice for a pancake breakfast in the park and fireworks in the evening. The afternoon will be spent at the hospital getting leg needles. If Nathan's counts are high enough on July 13 to proceed with the next phase, Nathan will have 4 straight weeks or rather 24 sets of leg needles without a break. 1 down 23 to go.
