And once again it changes. Dr Ali came in this morning and after looking at Nathan's blood work he decided now that he will not try to send Nathan home and that the hospital is the best place for him. Nathan's white blood cell counts are all very low, his Neutrophils were around .6 and that means that he does not have much protection against any infection. His red blood cells are low but OK and his platelets are in the normal level which is one good thing.
I haven't been the hospital much this weekend as Carter has a hockey tourney going on but it I will be staying there tonight and let Shelley come home for awhile. Shelley doesn't get much sleep as it is in the hospital but got even less last night. They decided to have a training session on the night shift so every time the nurse came in she had a nurse in training with her and had to explain everything she was doing and everything took much longer. The nurse in training even tried to wake Nathan to take his vitals until Shelley piped up and told her that she didn't have to wake him up to do any of it. Some nurses are so great coming in quietly in the night carrying a flashlight and others treat it like the day shift flipping on lights and talking loud. I hope I get a good one tonight!
Nathan had buddy Matt come visit again today and that always makes him happy. Nathan is still in good spirits and looks good but is staying put in the hospital for now. He will also continue his chemo treatments and the next one will be Monday.
